[post_content] => Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church will celebrate its centenary on May 10 with a noon lunch and a 2pm thanksgiving service at 25 Clifford Street, Goulburn.

The milestone reflects nearly 190 years of Presbyterian ministry in Goulburn, dating back to 1837 when Reverend William Hamilton led the first service in the original courthouse. The current church, opened in 1925 by NSW Governor Sir Dudley de Chair, replaced earlier buildings and was designed by architects Power and Adams.

After being lost in the 1977 church union, the Clifford Street church was repurchased in 1991. By 2019, when Pastor Adams arrived, the building was in disrepair and services were held in the hall. Renovations during Covid restored the church, making it more accessible and welcoming.

The congregation has grown from 13 to about 40 people of all ages. The anniversary will celebrate the church’s long history, with parishioners sharing stories and photos from past decades. Pastor Adams describes the church as a caring, family-like community and believes healthy churches are vital to healthy communities.
