Her art practice is an exploration light and its ability to both articulate and create an illusion of space. Gason is interested in subtle shifts of light and colour, repeating patterns and contrasts between flatness and depth that convey an illusionary space and perspective. The artist is fascinated by repeating patterns and tonal shifts observed in her everyday surrounds which exist through the application of light. Gason enjoys the way that light interacts with architectural and natural forms, and can both clarify, and sometimes create ambiguity around their true form. Gason’s practice focuses on the way light defines space and perspective. This exhibition in Gallery 2 builds on the artist’s existing works (glass wall panels, illuminated works and installation) that have consistently investigated shifting points of view in spatial and temporal contexts.
