[post_content] => Turbid (confused and obscure) Psithurismos (soft whispers, often attributed to the sounds of wind through trees).

An exhibition by Canberra based artist Pia van Gelder, ‘Turbid Psithurismos’ reflects on the impact of energy transition and industrial change in Goulburn and its surrounding region through exploring the sensory experience of wind turbines in their environment, giving special attention to their sonic presence. While the aesthetic appearance of wind turbines in the landscape is a topic of contention, what is seldom discussed is the force that animates them, the wind. ‘Turbid Psithurismos’ stays with the air, with the winds that produce the kinetic motion of the blades, and the sounds of this relationship.

Drawing from representations of experiences of the sounds of wind turbines and field recordings, van Gelder presents an archive is reinterpreted using synthesisers, voice and original custom instruments.

Mon – Fri 9am – 5pm
Sat 12pm – 4pm
Closed Sun and Public Holidays (Open Easter Saturday only)
