[post_content] => The Waterworks, built 1883-1885, was the main supply of water to Goulburn residents until 1977. The grand Victorian Georgian style building represents the innovation and culmination of steam power technology of the late 1800s. The pumphouse still contains the functioning and original Appleby Bros Beam Engine pump and Galloway Boilers.
Wander the museum to view original machinery and discover the mechanics of this rare facility that is the only complete, steam powered municipal water supply still in its original location in the Southern Hemisphere.
Visit the Museum on Sunday 19 April, 10am-3pm for a very special experience when the magnificent engines will be ‘steaming’.
The Museum is open every Saturday to Tuesday, 10am-4pm.
Light refreshments available or enjoy your own picnic on the banks of the Wollondilly River.
The Pumphouse Museum and the School House cafe are accessible for wheelchairs.
