[post_content] => Join the Lieder Theatre on Sundays throughout the year as they set up the big screen, get the popcorn machine popping, top up the choc tops, and roll out the classic movies with STA Screen!
The 2026 line-up features a thrilling mix of iconic films that span genres and decades, offering something for every movie lover. These are the films you’ve longed to see on the big screen - whether it’s the suspenseful chills of The Thing, the perfect blend of romance and adventure of The Princess Bride, the enduring comedy of Ghostbusters, or Some Like It Hot, one of the greatest films of all time. Each of these films has left its mark on cinema and continues to captivate audiences today.
The Thing (1982)
In the frozen isolation of Antarctica, a group of American researchers is shaken when a helicopter fires on a sled dog near their base. Taking the dog in proves disastrous as it attacks both humans and animals, revealing its terrifying ability to perfectly mimic its victims. Helicopter pilot R.J. MacReady (Kurt Russell) and the camp doctor (Richard Dysart) must lead the team in a desperate, bloody struggle to survive before the creature picks them off one by one.
Presented by Southern Tablelands Arts as part of STA Screen 2026.
