Autumn is one of the best times to visit Goulburn and its surrounding towns and villages. It’s the season where temperatures start to fall into cooler, comfortable days and the leaves start to turn to those iconic autumn colours of amber, gold and crimson.

The Southern Railway Hotel is sure to please, set in a historic hotel with themed with all things railway – be sure to try the hearty lamb shank meal. Outdoor Activities

Autumn is the perfect season to step outside and explore Goulburn at a gentler pace. The cooler air and golden light make it ideal for long walks through Victoria Park where the paths are lined with autumn leaves. If you’re keen to venture a little further, take a scenic drive to the village of Tallong and take in the sweeping views from Badgerys or Long Point Lookouts.

Closer to town, the Wollondilly and Mulwaree River Walkways offer scenic river views and an opportunity to see some of Goulburn’s iconic heritage buildings such as the Goulburn Brewery and Historic Waterworks, along with some vibrant pieces of public art.

Goulburn is home to a varied range of well-preserved heritage architecture and autumn presents the perfect backdrop to view the city’s iconic buildings. Drop into the Goulburn Visitor Information Centre to collect a Self-Guided Heritage Tour brochure and start your journey in discovering some interesting local facts and tales from the past.

The grand courthouse and post office buildings are a must see along the way, as are the vibrant buildings that line Montague Street. Be sure to spend some time taking in the meticulously restored Sts Peter and Paul’s Old Cathedral – believed to be the only greenstone cathedral in the world.
