In 1922 the Mannafields Public School building was purchased by the Towrang Progress Association for the sum of £20 & 1 shilling and transported to its present location to be used as a community hall. Many changes have been made over the years but it still used by and for the community to have meetings, functions and for hire.
There have been many weddings, christenings, birthday parties, dances, fundraising activities, wakes, meetings, etc held throughout the 100 years and many more to come.
To celebrate, the Hall Trust are having an afternoon tea and cake cutting on Saturday June 25 from 2-5pm. It was originally planned to have a big function, but the current weather conditions required a re-think. The Trust members would love anyone - current resident, past resident, descendants of former landowners - to come along to help celebrate this milestone. Please contact Jean on 0418 866 133 or Alan on 0418 429 070 for catering purposes by Thursday 23rd June.
The Hall Trust would really love to see any old photos or memorabilia taken throughout the past 100 years. A time capsule is also going to be prepared, so if you have anything you would like to add to it, please bring it along - old photos or newspaper clippings about the hall and/or major events happening in the Towrang area (eg the bridges could be included). We will also have some forms available for anyone who wishes to fill in with your details and details or your ancestors if they lived in the area. These will then be sealed in an envelope and put in the time capsule for the next time it is opened.
