DESCRIPTION:The Goulburn Model Expo has been organised by the Georges River Model Railway Club to be held at the Veolia Arena (Goulburn Recreation Area) in Goulburn. The Expo is being held to help promote the hobbies of model railways and plastic kit modelling\, helping foster healthy alternatives for the development of our young people. There will be over 70 trade stands and exhibitors across 2 halls at the Veolia Arena displaying model railway layouts and a myriad of plastic models on display. \nThese vendors will carry everything from basic starter sets for a new modeller\, modelling tools and paints\, through to highly detailed models and accessories for skilled modellers\, and all exhibitors are only too happy to answer any questions that you may have. There will also be a number of clinics where people can observe and learn how to use the modelling skills and methods being shown. There will also be a Community BBQ on offer over the weekend with all proceeds going directly to charity. \nA special heritage train\, The Southern Highlands Express\, has been organised to do a return journey on the Sunday from Central Station to the event and then back on that afternoon. \nEvent facilities have off and on-street parking\, disabled access and a ramp.

DESCRIPTION:Horizons explores connections between the body\, the natural world and the built environment. The term horizons can indicate limitlessness\, opportunity and optimism\, or\, conversely\, be seen as a perceived barrier\, feared sense of the unknown\, or a warning sign. The exhibition embraces the breadth of these interpretations\, looking at the ways we desire to draw close to the environment while also acknowledging the constructed physical\, digital and mental barriers created between humankind and the landscape. \nThe idea of horizons as moments of precipice\, meeting\, or confrontation with the more-than-human worlds is investigated through the diverse and innovative practices of leading Australian artists living and working across Australia. The exhibition presents works by artists Gemma Brown\, Rowan Conroy\, Marian Drew\, Lizzie Hall\, Bianca Hester\, Janet Laurence\, Guido Maestri\, Mandy Quadrio and Isadora Vaughan. Horizons features a dynamic range of media including ceramics\, audio-visual works\, photography\, painting and installations. \nThe impactful works featured in Horizons will look at human intervention in the natural world in order to consider historic moments of destruction\, contend with our present\, and posit possible futures.

DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG)\, the Office of Sport would like to invite you to a free Child Safe Risk Management workshop. This interactive session is focussed on the needs of community sport and the volunteers who make it happen.   \nYou will learn about common risks to children in community sport. What are the high-risk situations and how can we be safer? You will also learn about the Child Safe Standards and how they can be applied in your club. By the end of this workshop\, you will be able to identify and manage the child safety risks at your club which is a legal requirement under the Child Safe Scheme.  \nDate: Monday 18th August\nTime: 6pm – 7:30pm\nVenue: Grace Millsom Function Centre – 47 Braidwood Road\, Goulburn\nLight refreshments will be available from 5:30pm so come along and meet some other sport volunteers!

DESCRIPTION:Vietnam Veterans Day\, a day where we remember and reflect on the service and sacrifice of the more than 60\,000 Australians who served during the Vietnam War. \nThe Goulburn RSL Sub Branch will conduct a Vietnam Veterans Day service Sunday 17th August\, at the Honour Roll in Belmore Park from 10am. This service\, which is open to the public\, will honour the 242 Goulburn district residents who enlisted or conscripted into National Service\, and the seven men who died during the Vietnam War. \nFor more information about the service\, please contact the RSL Sub Branch. \nThe Rocky Hill War Memorial and Museum will be open on Sunday 17th August\, and will have a number of Vietnam War-related objects on display. \nLest we forget.

This is the official NSW Junior Chess League (NSWJCL) rated tournament. The results in the tournament will be published in the quarterly NSWJCL magazine. \nEach tournament will run as “Swiss” Tournament in open selection for all ages Under 18. You will play in all rounds (8 – 9 rounds) and there is no knock-out.
