SUMMARY:Canberra and Region Heritage Festival 2026: Goulburn Historic Waterworks Museum
DESCRIPTION:The Waterworks\, built 1883-1885\, was the main supply of water to Goulburn residents until 1977. The grand Victorian Georgian style building represents the innovation and culmination of steam power technology of the late 1800s. The pumphouse still contains the functioning and original Appleby Bros Beam Engine pump and Galloway Boilers. \nWander the museum to view original machinery and discover the mechanics of this rare facility that is the only complete\, steam powered municipal water supply still in its original location in the Southern Hemisphere. \nVisit the Museum on Sunday 19 April\, 10am-3pm for a very special experience when the magnificent engines will be ‘steaming’. \nThe Museum is open every Saturday to Tuesday\, 10am-4pm. \nLight refreshments available or enjoy your own picnic on the banks of the Wollondilly River. \nThe Pumphouse Museum and the School House cafe are accessible for wheelchairs.

Come see horse archers take on Greek soldiers in combat\, a mass melee battle\, medieval dancers and musicians\, all whilst you sip on a mead or craft beer in their fully equipped medieval tavern! \nTheir village of camps from across history is guaranteed to have something of interest between shows! Come learn everything from Roman life to blacksmithing to medieval medicine! There will also be a full array of vendors in their medieval market\, so you can pick up that perfect fur or sword to finish your kit\, or go home with hand cast bronze or new books for the library. \nSo much packed into a single day\, its hard-to-get better value from an event.

Come and celebrate Tallong’s rich apple orchard heritage\, home of the Big Apple\, with fun attractions\, heaps of craft and food stalls\, special events for children\, and competitions galore! \nWhipcracking\, medieval battles\, wood chopping\, pig racing\, pony rides\, fleece to garment\, bake-off\, photography competition\, car and bike show\, rock climbing wall\, bungee jumping\, live music\, puppet shows\, snake and reptiles\, Boral Free Kids Activity area and loads more! Plenty of food including toffee apples and apple pies. All parking will be in Tallong for the Apple Festival\, just follow the signage for the allocated space\, a gold coin donation is requested. \nAnd of course\, being an Apple Festival\, there will be lots of apples for sale.
