DESCRIPTION:In Gallery 2\, Goulburn based artist Poppy Perry presents The Landscape Devours\, The Landscape Restores. Containing painted works on canvas alongside animated video\, the exhibition delves into the dual nature of the Australian environment—its power to both devastate and regenerate. Fire\, water\, earth\, and air appear throughout the exhibition as active\, shaping forces rather than passive scenery. Each artwork captures a moment of elemental transformation: fire clearing ground for renewal\, water carving terrain\, earth shifting beneath us\, and air revealing itself only through movement and sound. Together\, they reflect the cyclical energies that define the landscapes we inhabit and the internal landscapes we carry. \nGrounded in lived experience\, these works trace moments of vulnerability\, resilience\, and connection. Tapestry of the Southern Highlands to the Coast symbolises abundance and growth\, marking the beginning of the artist’s love story of two locations connecting. Consumed by Flame reflects Perry’s experience of being trapped in Narooma as bushfires encircled her family\, displaying fire’s capacity to both destroy and reset the land. In Reverberations on the Tide\, the artist explores water’s continuous movement\, transparency and ability to reflect the expansive sky. The artist deeply values water’s ability to transform\, reflect\, and soothe after growing up in a rural landscape where water was often absent due to drought. While The Invisible Thread\, an animated digital illustration revealing the connective yet intangible forces that bind people\, places\, moments and the elements together. \nPerry invites the audience into an immersive environment where elemental forces act upon both land and self. DESCRIPTION:Gallery on Track is pleased to present this month’s beautiful exhibition “Unthinking’ by Jessica Norris. Jessica is a hand weaver living in the Southern Highlands of Australia (beautiful Gundungurra Country). She loves using natural fibres and is happiest when sampling new weave structures at her loom. One day she hopes to add a draw loom to her collection. You can find her @jessica__norris on Instagram. \n“Weaving is my way to forget: when I’m at my loom\, the worries of the world fall away from my shoulders\, and I can lose myself in the texture of natural yarns\, and a tangle of vibrant colours.\nI find the most effective “unthinking” happens when I’m deep diving into complex weave structures\, and sampling to discover new possibilities in cloth. When I let go of weaving for a purpose\, and simply weave for the experience\, I carve out a quiet space in the corner of my mind where the chaos of outside thoughts can’t reach me. It nourishes me.\nThis collection is the result of my recent “unthinking”: chaotic\, colourful\, weird”. \nThe exhibition is open for viewing during August 2026 at Gallery on Track Exhibition Space inside the Gallery Shop hours\, Wednesday to Sunday 10am – 4pm. These are key contemporary practitioners working at the forefront of their disciplines: honing techniques\, embracing new technologies and unconventional materials\, and developing interactive and immersive artworks that reflect and respond to the world around them. Visitors can explore more than 50 model railway layouts\, alongside LEGO displays and radio-controlled trucks and diggers. \nA wide selection of vendors will offer everything from beginner starter sets\, tools and paints to highly detailed models and accessories for experienced modellers. Exhibitors will be available to answer questions\, while clinics will provide opportunities to learn modelling skills and techniques. \nThe venue offers on-site and street parking\, as well as accessible facilities and ramp access. \nThe Picnic Train will run steam train trips from Sydney to Goulburn on Saturday and Sunday\, with shuttle buses operating between Goulburn Railway Station and the Veolia Arena. \nThe Goulburn Rail Heritage Centre will also be open Saturday 9am–5pm and Sunday 9am–4pm\, with a special Saturday evening session from 7pm–10pm. Tickets for all three sessions will be available at the door. \nProceeds from the onsite BBQ will be donated to Kids with Cancer. \nProudly supported by Goulburn Mulwaree Council.

More of what was deemed as therapy for her body\, spirit and mind. SUMMARY:Speaking Collections: Youth Perspectives on Contemporary Art
DESCRIPTION:Curated by local young people\, this exhibition reveals prominent works from the Gallery’s permanent collection made between 1975 and 2025. Supported by Gallery staff\, youth participants consider the works of ten living artists whose contribution to the Gallery’s holdings\, exhibition history\, and local storytelling has been immense. Artworks presented take the form of textiles\, painting\, drawing\, photography\, collage\, and video. However\, the artistic concerns behind them traverse archiving\, education\, choreography\, archaeology\, family history\, agriculture\, psychology\, climate change\, and queer identities. \nPaired with interviews of each artist responding to youth participant enquiries\, Speaking collections perceives art making\, collecting\, and curation as a form of intergenerational connection\, problem solving\, and time-traveling. The fair has a large range of books including fiction\, biography\, sport\, romance\, children’s books\, gardening\, cooking\, you name it – they will probably have it.  \nThe books are at bargain prices with all proceeds going to Rotary charities and projects. In addition\, at the conclusion of each Book Fair\, a large number of books that were not sold at each Book Fair\, are transported to far Western NSW and South – Western Queensland for the benefit of people in these outback regions. The books for these regions are donated to “Books For The Outback” with the assistance of the Rotary Clubs of Goulburn and Cowra.

Unique stories\, treasures and rare artworks await. \nEnjoy refreshments upon arrival in the heritage garden before embarking on a unique twilight discovery tour of historic Riversdale. \nView some of this significant property’s rarely seen the treasures and unlock her many secrets. \nStep inside the stables\, Goulburn’s oldest building\, look inside the original colonial kitchen\, view the collection of rare artworks in the house and take a stroll through the idyllic garden. \nAs dusk settles\, the stories from the past will come alive before you. Enjoy the ambiance of this historic place as you journey through time. \nHistory – Once located on Goulburn’s main street\, Riversdale started life as a coaching inn. The stables\, thought to be Goulburn’s oldest building\, was once a brewery. The property was then run as a boarding school and later opening again as an inn. \nFrom 1875 the Georgian Homestead was home to surveyor Edward Twynam and his wife Emily Rose Twynam\, who had a keen interest in art. In 1893 Emily won a prize for her embroidery at the Chicago International Exhibition. Her artwork is displayed at the property. The heritage garden still retains a number of fruit trees\, the produce of which is sold on site.

DESCRIPTION:In January 1927\, on the roads of Goulburn\, Australia made motorsport history. The first Australian Grand Prix for motor cars was held\, and the first Grand Prix ever staged in the Southern Hemisphere.  \nGoulburn had already hosted the first Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix in 1924 and the first Motorcycle Tourist Trophy in 1914\, making it the undisputed birthplace of Grand Prix motor racing on this continent. \nOne hundred years on\, Goulburn celebrates this extraordinary legacy with a landmark four-day festival. \nThe Goulburn Grand Prix Centenary brings together historic vehicle displays featuring original AGP-linked cars\,  including a rare Type 39 Bugatti from the UK\,  motorsport demonstrations at One Raceway\, a week-long historic motorsport program\, heritage exhibitions\, a formal gala dinner\, community festivities\, carnival entertainment\, and food and artisan markets across the Goulburn Recreation Area. \nOrganised by Celebrate Goulburn Group Inc. in partnership with Goulburn Mulwaree Council\, VSCCA\, GEAR\, and One Raceway\, the centenary is the inaugural event in a planned annual heritage motorsport series. \nWhether you’re a vintage car enthusiast\, a motorsport history devotee\, or simply looking for an unforgettable regional experience\, this is a once in a century celebration that can only happen in one place\,  Goulburn\, NSW.
