SUMMARY:Canberra and Region Heritage Festival 2026: 'In their Honour' a Century of Remembrance at Rocky Hill
DESCRIPTION:This exhibition explores the origins of the Rocky Hill War Memorial\, built 100 years ago\, as a lasting tribute to those from Goulburn and the district who served during the Great War (WWI). Through rarely seen portraits\, photographs\, and objects from the Museum’s collection\, many of which are on public display for the first time\, it also reflects on the experiences of service personnel and those on the home front. These stories of dedication\, sacrifice\, and resilience reveal the profound local impact of global conflict and its role in shaping contemporary Australia. \nThe Museum and Memorial Tower are open from 10am to 4pm on Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon/Wed\, also open on all Public Holidays and School Holidays. \nImage Copyright Corrie Wisung / Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum.

SUMMARY:Pia Van Gelder ‘Turbid Psithurismos’ Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Turbid (confused and obscure) Psithurismos (soft whispers\, often attributed to the sounds of wind through trees). \nAn exhibition by Canberra based artist Pia van Gelder\, ‘Turbid Psithurismos’ reflects on the impact of energy transition and industrial change in Goulburn and its surrounding region through exploring the sensory experience of wind turbines in their environment\, giving special attention to their sonic presence. While the aesthetic appearance of wind turbines in the landscape is a topic of contention\, what is seldom discussed is the force that animates them\, the wind. ‘Turbid Psithurismos’ stays with the air\, with the winds that produce the kinetic motion of the blades\, and the sounds of this relationship. \nDrawing from representations of experiences of the sounds of wind turbines and field recordings\, van Gelder presents an archive is reinterpreted using synthesisers\, voice and original custom instruments. \nMon – Fri 9am – 5pm\nSat 12pm – 4pm\nClosed Sun and Public Holidays (Open Easter Saturday only) \nImage courtesy the artist.

SUMMARY:Lynda Draper ‘Glimmer' Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Lynda Draper ‘Glimmer’\, a survey exhibition celebrating Thirroul-based artist Lynda Draper. \nFollowing the premiere of the exhibition at Campbelltown Arts Centre\, Goulburn Regional Art Gallery is delighted to partner to present a new iteration of this important exhibition of a renowned Australian artist. \nDraper is celebrated as one of Australia’s most innovative ceramic practitioners. Across four decades of practice as an artist and educator\, Draper has continued to push the technical limits and aesthetic conventions of ceramics. Resembling papier-mâché\, bubble gum\, pearl\, wax\, and paper\, her works evoke the tactile and visual fragility of clay\, capturing the alchemy and allure of the making process. \nDraper’s practice explores the intersection of dreams and reality. Her works draw from memory\, life events\, and the environment. Her practice is shaped by an interest in material culture and how meaning is ascribed to physical objects. \nGlimmer brings together key bodies of work by Draper\, creating a space for contemplation and imagination. Featuring loans from major public institutions and private collections\, the exhibition also debuts new commissions which incorporate glass and bronze for the first time – offering an in-depth exploration of Draper’s practice. \nDraper is represented by Sullivan+Strumpf\, Sydney\, Melbourne and Singapore\, and Galerie Lefebvre & Fils\, Paris\, France. \nLynda Draper | Glimmer is a Campbelltown Arts Centre exhibition presented in partnership with Goulburn Regional Art Gallery.

SUMMARY:'Light & Shade' Exhibition by Judith Dimitrov
DESCRIPTION:Gallery on Track is excited to present the Light & Shade Exhibition during May by Judith Dimitrov. This exhibition showcases polymer clay\, alcohol ink and oil painting and is available to the public free for viewing in the Gallery Shop on days the Gallery is open. In Judith’s words: \n“I was ten years old when my teacher put a lump of clay on my school desk. It was love at first touch. I sculpted a head my family lovingly named Ugly Alice. I was enthralled but this was an era when parents did not encourage their children become artists. I became a Social Scientist and an educator. Art was always the background music. When my children were born I wanted to be a stay at home mum and I decided to turn up the music… I established a pottery studio where I created sculptural pieces and line of functional ware called “Muggly Uglies”. When my kids went off to school I sold the studio and pursued an academic life. \nEarly in 2000 I discovered polymer clay a wonderful medium that needs little more than a few tools and a domestic oven. I haven’t stopped playing with clay since and at one point had a business called Polymer Arts Australia. \nAlcohol ink was another discovery\, a somewhat volatile ink with glorious bright colours and a mind of its own. It is often used in conjunction with polymer clay and resin but on paper it is vivid and chaotic creating drips\, fractals and cells that give energy and excitement to even the smallest painting. \nMy artistic focus expanded in March of 2020. COVID and lockdown confronted us all. The background music of my life became a crescendo. It was time to learn to paint portraits. And that is what I did. I’ve kept some of my early work. One even hangs on the wall at home. I am essentially a self taught artist with help along the way from YouTube and from encouraging people including the kind and generous Stavroros Papantoniou who unfortunately passed away in 2023. The portraits in this exhibition are of my children and grand children with one exception\, the collection of portraits of Marty Sanders\, an extraordinarily talented local actor. When you see his face\, you will understand the compulsion to paint him. \nThe landscapes in this exhibition are inspired by the view out my front door. Light and Shade and the beauty of the Goulburn Sky are part of the music of my life”. Judith Dimitrov 2026 \nEntry is free and exhibition is open during Gallery Shop hours\, Wednesday to Sunday 10am-4pm. All are welcome to come and browse\, entry via the Gallery on Track Shop front.

Come along and see Australia’s only Historical Solid Lance joust where knights in full armour charge at each other to try and break solid pine lances with real steel tips!
